Herakles - Alexander
Parallels for the face of this sculpture can be found in both ideal heads and Alexander portraits of the early Hellenistic period. The radiant young man in this sculpture is wearing the skin of a lion over his head and back. The skin is the emblem of Herakles, who killed the Nemean Lion as the first of his prodigious feats.
